All about the Guys

Knowing something about your photographer is a must ...

Two photographers for the price of one!

Smart Guys Studio is a duo photography team ( Chris Corkin and Andrew Shut), we are based in a little town called South Shields in the North East of England, but we do/have covered all areas of the UK. Our main role on your wedding day/photography shoot is to be as unobtrusive as possible allowing you to concentrate on the business of enjoying your day. Reportage wedding photography has become popular as the results look more natural and most importantly the wedding photographer doesn't boss you around all day!

Chris Corkin comes from the graphic design industry with over 12 years experience and Andrew Shut works in a leading photography studio in the North East of England. These two backgrounds give us a well rounded experience and understanding of composition, shape and texture. We always try to incorporate these elements into our wedding photography.

Our photographic style is probably best described as documentary. For most of the day we will be in the background and you won't notice we're there, It doesn't mean we have shot off down to the pub for a swift pint!  We are with you for around eight hours if you want us for the full day, but in reality it will be quite a bit more as we arrive early on in the day or even the day before, to allow for the unexpected.

At some stage during the drinks reception we will take you away to somewhere quiet where we can take some natural, romantic pictures of you both. This will be for around twenty minutes. We don't do gimmicks or cliches or arrange you in silly unnatural positions! You have seen what we do that's hopefully why you're reading this.  During the day there will be occasions when you will want us to come out of the woodwork and take some arranged shots, these are important as family records and you will probably kick yourselves in a few years time if they are omitted. We recommend that you have no more than six to eight groups as it can start to take over the reception and leave you with no time to talk to your friends and family. It's a wedding not a photo shoot!.

But our role as your wedding photographer begins before the day, as we like to meet the couple at least twice before the event. This helps us establish exactly what you can expect from us, but more importantly establishes a rapport which will help you feel comfortable on the day. Your wedding photographer is a big part of your day, so it's important to choose someone you get on well with and most importantly feel comfortable with.

PLEASE NOTE: To allow us to give you the service and attention that you deserve for your wedding photography we accept only a limited number of wedding bookings per year, however we receive many more enquires. We work on a first come first service basis where your booking is secured with the receipt of your booking fee. Early booking is always recommended.
